Lyda Ludeman
Doctor of Science, honoris causa, CU Anschutz
The University of Colorado Board of Regents announced in January its selection of this year’s recipients of Honorary Degrees, Distinguished Service Awards, and University Medals. Lyda Ludeman, longtime ARCS member, V.P of University Relations, and President (2006-2008) is one of them! Lyda is an enthusiastic and involved supporter of the Center for Women’s Health Research on the Anschutz Medical Campus and will receive an honorary Doctor of Science.
Lyda has been involved with the Center since 2014, beginning with the establishment of an endowment to provide seed grants for junior researchers. This interest is an extension of her involvement with the ARCS scholars we support who have career goals in research. The mentor program offered by the Center helps ensure that beginning researchers successfully make the transition to established researchers. Another area the endowment will support is the new CU Innovations program that brings together industry partners, entrepreneurs and investors to help CU faculty by not only providing cutting-edge health care solutions but also by generating a sustainable revenue stream.
ARCS Colorado Chapter is extremely proud that one of our own has been recognized with this prestigious honor. At the graduation ceremony this spring, another ARCS member, Amy Davis, will also be honored. Amy Davis, a philanthropist who supported causes in Colorado and Wyoming through the Courtenay C. and Lucy Patten Davis Foundation, which created five endowed chairs and supported multiple research funds on campus, will receive the Distinguished Service Award posthumously.
