President's Message - Fall 2021

Posted on Sunday, September 19, 2021

As the school year begins, ARCS Colorado once again will support 46 scholars.  Planning for Meet and Greets at each of our six partner universities began this summer with hopes for in-person meetings, however as fall approached many of our university partners decided not to host indoor meetings.  Because of this our board voted to host all of this fall’s Meet and Greets and the Scholar Recognition Event on Zoom.  While I know we would all love to gather with our scholars and friends this year, I hope you will have the opportunity to “Zoom in” to meet and congratulate our accomplished students.

We are delighted to announce that Earl Wright has accepted our invitation to be our ARCS Honoree this year.  Earl and his late wife, Nancy, have made lasting contributions to both our ARCS chapter and ARCS National for decades.  Nancy served as president from 1993-1994, pivoting our fundraising focus to our members and legacies from former members.  Earl supported Nancy in these efforts and has recently partnered with our chapter to enhance this legacy, contributing his financial talents.  Earl and Nancy supported countless scholars in the past and Earl’s enduring commitment to our chapter will ensure support for many more in the coming years.

I am pleased to announce that our chapter has been selected as the Outstanding Service Organization of 2021 by National Philanthropy Day of Colorado.  Jane Marsh, Senior Director of Development at the University of Colorado Boulder nominated our chapter for our exceptional philanthropic and volunteer contributions in Colorado.  We will be honored at a lunch at the Seawell Grand Ballroom on November 12th.  If you are interested in attending the event, please contact me for details.

Please check your emails for dates and Zoom instructions for joining our Meet and Greets and Scholar Recognition Events.  I hope to see many of you this fall on the “little screen!”
