ARCS Colorado is deeply saddened by the recent loss of three  members  whose support and involvement was vital to the development of our chapter. We’re eternally grateful for the privilege of knowing and working with Sherrye Berger, Pat Kleinknecht and Peg Link and our prayers are with their families.

Sherrye Berger was a charter member of the Colorado ARCS Chapter and an active member of ARCS National. She served as Colorado Chapter President from 1980 to 1982 and was recognized as Chapter ARCS Light twice, most recently in 2005. Sherrye was devoted to ARCS scholars, especially those at the UC Anschutz campus where she served as a University Relations Liaison for eight years. Sherrye’s service as a Chapter Director for almost a decade was pivotal to the success of the Colorado Chapter.

Pat Kleinknecht was a founding member of the Houston ARCS Chapter where she and husband Kenny were involved in aviation and space technology. Pat and Kenny had an incredible life together that began at NASA’s Lewis Research Center and ultimately brought them to Denver. Pat served the Colorado Chapter in many roles as a member of the Chapter Executive Board and generously donated full scholarships for many years.

Margaret (Peg) Link was a long time Colorado ARCS Chapter member who brought her infectious smile and wonderful laugh to everything she did. In 2009 she was aptly named Colorado  Chapter  ARCS  Light.  Peg’s  chapter  involvement included many committees  and  Executive  Board  roles  that  included Scholar Relations, By-laws and Director-at-Large. Peg’s generosity provided full scholarships to many Colorado Chapter scholars.

ARCS Northern California Chapter reports the passing of Mary Beth Trewhitt Dow, a former Denver resident of 32 years. In 1987 Mary Beth and husband Glenn left Denver’s oil and gas industry to raise premium grapes in California’s Sonoma Valley.
